Education Sessions
From an Indigenous perspective, education sessions on adolescent health emphasize holistic well-being that nurtures the physical, emotional, spiritual, and community dimensions of growing youth. Coming-of-age teachings are often guided by Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and aunties or uncles who ground adolescents in cultural identity, relational accountability, and traditional practices that promote balance. These sessions may also highlight the role of doulas and other cultural support people who provide nurturing care, ceremony, and guidance through key life transitions. Rooted in land-based knowledge, storywork, and intergenerational wisdom, these teachings support young people and their families in developing resilience, belonging, and a strong sense of self.
